CARamari: Tentacle Four-Way is a mini game created in 48 hours for Global Game Jam 2017. This year's Global Game Jam prompt was the word 'wave', and teams of creators all around the world raced to finish games in just two days. Here's what we created! This heartwarming game combines the visuals of a cozy Post-Victorian suburb with incessant road-rage and quirky characters. The only question is how long before it all goes up in flames?

Fun, fire, and the Essentials of a Day Job.

In CARamari you play as a squid, starting your first day as a traffic conductor. You use the WASD keys to wave traffic through. But as rush hour mounts the impatiant commutors come faster and faster, some even boiling over with anger and gassing through the intersection without permission. It quickly becomes a struggle to keep everyone safe and keep yourself from getting fired!

So Simple, It's Hard

The mechanics of CARamari were designed to be as straight-forward as possible. Just press the right street key. What could go wrong? It's not like this is life and death or anything.

Embrace the Absurd

With a prompt like 'wave' the options for content are really endless. So why a suggestive squid and high death count? Because we all have a little bit of that inner rage, that spectacle of the unlikely in our day-to-day. Embracing it (or running with it it like a bandit) can be freeing. The designs for this project were born of a desire to encapsulate the whimsical and joyous, even in situations that stress us out.
